If you have the Windows Firewall (Windows XP SP2 Firewall or Windows Internet Connection Firewall) turned on, you may experience issues with your VPN connection. Such issues may not being able to browse the network or not being able to connect at all.

 

 

The Windows Firewall (prior to Windows XP Service Pack 2, the Windows Firewall was referred to as the Internet Connection Firewall) interferes with file and print sharing services in virtual private network connections.

 

 

 

You must turn off the Windows Firewall (ICF) in order to properly use VPN. Microsoft does not currently offer any work-arounds or port openings to allow proper VPN connections.
