  • Where do I find the model and serial number on my Warp Drive?
  • On the back of the unit, the serial number is located under the UPC label and begins with the letters "HD." The model number for the Warp 2.5 is TRI-XHD026 (formerly TRI-XHD025).
  • Why will Windows 2000 or XP detect my drive, but does not assign it a drive letter?
  • Windows 2000 and XP will not assign a drive letter to non-formatted hard drives. You must format the hard drive first in order for Windows to assign it a drive letter. For more information, please see the Knowledge Base section.
  • Why will my Windows NT/2000/XP machine access the data on my drive, but a Windows 98/ME machine tell me it is not formatted?
  • The drive was most likely formatted using an NTFS partition under Windows 2000 or XP. Windows 98/ME uses the FAT32 file system and does not recognize NFTS partitions. However, Windows 2000/XP will work fine with the older FAT32 file system as well.
  • Do I need a power adapter for my Warp 2.5 Drive?
  • No. However, there may be some situations where an external power adapter may be required. If your USB port is an add-on card, the card may not have enough power to support an external drive. Also, if the drive you purchase requires more power than the USB ports provide, you will need the optional power adapter.
  • What is the physical size of a standard 2.5 inch hard drive?
  • The standard size of a 2.5 inch hard drive is 9.5mm (H) x 69.85mm (W) x 100mm (D).
  • Are there any capacity limitations for the HDD I use?
  • Yes. Currently, the largest capacity of the hard drive the Warp Drive has is 80GB. Anything larger will not work.
  • Will the Warp Drive 2.5" idle the hard drive when not in use?
  • Yes. The Warp Drive 2.5" will automatically turn the hard drive off after a short period of time when the hard disk is not in use.
  • Where do I find the optional AC Adapter for the Warp Drive 2.5"?
  • The specifications for the AC Adapter are:
    5V DC 2A
Positive Inside, Negative Outside (for the connector)
You can find the TRITTON branded power supply online at PC Snapper (www.pcsnapper.com).
  • What is the difference between the TRI-XHD025 and TRI-XHD026?
  • The XHD026 can support ATA-6 drives and comes with a free carrying case, where the XHD025 does not.

  • Check your light status first. You should have a steady red light when the unit is powered on. It will blink when the hard drive is being accessed.
  • Check the Windows Device Manager for errors. Look in the Windows Device Manager for any errors that pertain to the USB device drivers. Your USB ports may not be working properly. A quick way to check is to plug a different USB device into the port and see if it works.
  • Make sure the hard drive is formatted. Windows will not assign a drive letter to unformatted hard drives. Please follow the steps in the Knowledge Base article T4096-1545 or this tutorial on how to format the hard drive under Windows.
  • Make sure the drive is being powered by the USB port. If the USB ports on your computer is an add-on card or a laptop PCMCIA card, the card may require an optional power adapter. Check your add-on USB card or PCMCIA card documentation for this possibility. If not, use the supplied PS/2 power adapter. In some cases, you may have to purchase the optional power supply.
