TRITTON Ships Industry’s First WiFi 802.11G NAS ServerWiFi NAS delivers up to 200GB of wireless network attached storage and can also be used as a wireless access point to add wireless connectivity to new or existing wireless networks.VISTA, Calif., October 11, 2004 – TRITTON Technologies, a provider of advanced networking, storage and computer peripheral products, today announced one of the industry’s first wireless NAS (network attached storage) servers for consumers and SOHO networks. The WiFi NAS offers 120GB or 200GB of secure, shared storage and doubles as a Wireless Access Point (“hot spot”) with 64/128bit WEP encryption. The WiFi NAS supports both standard 802.11 G and B protocols. Available today through popular retail such as Fry’s Electronics, online and catalog stores, the TRITTON WiFi NAS servers carry an MSRP of $399 (120GB) and $499 (200GB). Designed for Windows, Linux, and Mac wireless-enabled networks, the TRITTON WiFi NAS server provides up to 200GB of instant capacity for anytime storage and access of shared data, music, digital images, movies, multimedia, and backup files. Multiple users can simultaneously access the WiFi NAS to read and write data. The WiFi NAS is one of the industry’s first available wireless NAS servers that can connect to an existing WiFi network as a node or as a wireless access point. As a node the unit can be placed anywhere within the range of the wireless network, only needing a power outlet. As a wireless access point, the unit is plugged into the existing network via the 10/100 port of the WiFi NAS to extend the range of a wireless network creating a wireless “hot spot”. The server provides password level security on shared folders to provide additional protection. “With the boom of home networks and the consistent increase in data size for personal and business use, adding a NAS server to the network becomes essential,” said Chris Von Huben, president of TRITTON Technologies. “The WiFi NAS provides central storage for users to not only share files, but also stream music, movies, images, etc. in new and creative ways throughout the home or office.” The NAS server also ships with Genie-Soft Backup Manager. Genie-Soft Backup Manager is a wizard-driven file management backup utility for safeguarding important data, files, folders, email, and settings in the case of disk failure, file corruption, or accidental deletion. Schedule unattended backup tasks to run at times that guarantee no interruptions to your work or home environment. It supports compression and 128-bit encryption as well as writing to the WiFi NAS and remote FTP formats, allowing users to backup large amounts of data easily and reliably. More Information: |
