Windows 2000 and XP will not assign a drive letter to non-formatted hard drives. You must format the hard drive first in order for Windows to assign it a drive letter. For more information, please see the Knowledge Base section.
The drive was most likely formatted using an NTFS partition under Windows 2000 or XP. Windows 98/ME uses the FAT32 file system and does not recognize NFTS partitions. However, Windows 2000/XP will work fine with the older FAT32 file system as well.
The power adapter is only required when you want to power the hard drive on in the unit or when your current USB bus is passive (non-powered). We recommend having the AC Adapter plugged in if you are also using the built in USB Hub.
No. The only limitations on what you use depends on the file system you use to format the drive itself. The external case has no limitations itself.
Windows treats each USB 2.0 port as a separate device. If you moved your adapter to a different port, it will install the driver for that port.
The Warp Drive's aluminum casing was designed for heat dissipation. Thus, the aluminum casing is the heat sink, which means it will get warm or hot. Please refer to article T4274-1430 for more information.
The jumper settings differ from drive to drive. Usually, the drive works best if it is in the "Cable Select" mode. However, this is not true for all drives. Please try the setting that works best for your drive, or refer to your drive's documentation.
The Warp Drive 3.5" does not currently support the hard disk idle feature. It is recommended to switch the hard drive off when it is not in use.
